Job Description Our client, a manganese ferroalloys smelter situated in Witbank, is seeking the services of a Control and Instrumentation Engineer (Programming). The company is committed to become a leader in its field and in order to achieve this objective it requires the services of a self-motivated, innovative individual with applicable experience and qualification.

• National Diploma or N6 in Control and Instrumentation.
• Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) for Works and Factories or registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) will be advantageous.
• 5 years relevant experience - preferably in a similar environment, that is, smelter, heavy industrial, or similar concern.
• Demonstrable and proven extensive programming competency and experience in;
? Allen Bradley - RS Logics 5000
? Modicon Momentum - Ladder Logic (Modsoft)
? Modicon Quantum - Ladder Logic (Modsoft)
? SCADA - In touch (Wonder ware)
? SCADA - RS view (Allan Bradley)
? ABB DCS Freelance (AC800F) will be advantageous
• Proven Project Management skills
• Able to work under pressure and be self driven
• Able to deliver projects within schedule in a highly unionized environment.

Purpose of the Role:
To enhance the capability of the operation in specific control disciplines such as advanced process control (APC), distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).

Tasks and responsibilities will include;
• Designing and developing new control systems;
• Maintaining and modifying existing systems;
• Managing operations for efficiency of processes;
• Project management within cost and time constraints
• Trouble-shooting and problem-solving including field instrumentation;
• Understanding and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standard;

• Must be an energetic, qualified Control and Instrumentation Engineer,
• Preferably with experience in a smelter environment.
